Every year there is a traveling carnival / fair that comes to Shelly Beach. We have photographed a wedding portfolio at this same fair and it was really amazing and interesting. So this time it came I decided I wanted to do another shoot there. A matric dance styled photo shoot.
We arranged for a recent model that had recently had her matric dance and still had her dress, to be our model. And as in a previous blog “Matric Dance Idea’s” I expressed how unique our style of matric dance photography is. Whats is good is that other photographers had already read my blog and have clutched our idea and tried to recreate it. This is awesome, creating a new school of thinking and approach to a traditional way of photography.
With this matric dance styled photography session we could not go into the carnival.
There was alot of people which would have made this type of photo shoot very difficult. Instead we wanted to capture the fair from across the road. Capturing the motion of the rides and as well as the motion of the lights from passing cars. With my Olympus OMD EM1 Using and three off camera flashes to light our model and create a few extra fair lights we set off on this really amazing shoot. The lights from the carnival created some amazing light flairs which really added to the effect.
